Just fifteen minutes from Praia da Luz is one of the Algarve's largest towns. Lagos. If you are staying in Luz for any length of time you are bound to visit Lagos, even if its only for shopping at the hypermarkets. There are quite a few web sites that cover the town in depth and I'm not intending to compete with them. They'll be mentioned on the notes page. This page is here to compliment the rest of my site and allow me to make my own observations on the bars, cafes and restaurants. So you will not find an exhaustive list of places, just the ones I have visited or used.

A few notes on the Lagos Restaurants and Bars I've used, or have been recommended by this site's visitors. Any remarks here are my own (or contributors), should you disagree, want to add your own or just think things have changed for the better / worse then please please let me know. There is a larger list of restaurants and bars in Lagos on the Towns - A to L Page but with only basic detail. They will be moved here as I get to visit them or receive more info. |
"...We took your recommendation and went to Lagos to try Casinha de Petisco for dinner. We loved it. Amazing food. Might be worth putting a note on your website that the portions are ENORMOUS! We left so much food behind us, it was a shame. The spaghetti house style and claudia style came on plates that were easily 3 times the size of a normal dinner plate. Delicious..."

Don Sebastião |
Traditional Portuguese. It has had a faithful following of regular diners since it opened in May 1979. The restaurant has gained an enviable reputation. The formula for their success is delicious traditional fresh food and a warm, welcoming friendly service. An impressive well stocked wine cellar.

"...We were there for two lunches, the gazpacho was the best I've ever had, followed by six large sardines etc and individual bottles of vinho verde once again. We came across it by accident as It looked the most attractive restaurant in that long street, and we would have liked to have seen it in the evening as the inside of the restaurant was so elegant. However, that will have to wait for our next visit..."

Fools & Horses |
An English styled pub and restaurant that's been established in Lagos for over 25 years. Seems to be popular with the British both
resident and visiting ( I guess it might be to do with the name ). Serves popular English dishes and a choice of several international too. Treat
it more as a snack bar than a restaurant and you won't be disappointed. Local and imported beers. A big screen sports TV. Some pub style bench seating outside.
